By creating a Carl account or texting Carl, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English — read them.
What Carl is
Carl is a golf tee time concierge that operates through text message, currently serving the greater Boston area. Carl searches booking platforms, calls pro shops directly, and texts you back with available tee times and a recommendation.
Carl is in private beta. The service is incomplete, may have gaps in coverage, and will change as the beta progresses. Use it accordingly.
What Carl is not
Carl is a booking assistant, not a booking platform. When Carl recommends a tee time and sends you a booking link, you complete the reservation directly with the course or through their booking system. The golf course — not Carl — is the party you're making a reservation with.
Carl is not responsible for course conditions, pace of play, pricing changes, or a course cancelling a tee time. If a course closes for maintenance the morning of your round, that's between you and the course.
Text messages and consent
Carl works entirely over text message. When you provide your mobile number and agree to these Terms — at sign-up or by texting Carl — you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from Carl at that number, including messages sent using an automatic telephone dialing system. These include tee-time search results, recommendations, booking links, reminders, and account notifications.
Message frequency varies with how you use the service. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. Consent to receive these messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOPto any message; we'll send a single confirmation and then stop texting you. Reply HELP, or email hello@carl.golf, for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and supported carriers include the major U.S. carriers.
Your responsibilities
Provide accurate information. If you tell Carl you need 4 spots and book a 2-spot tee time, that's on you.
You're responsible for maintaining a valid payment method for a paid subscription. Carl includes a 14-day free trial and then costs $15 per month or $99 per year, depending on the plan you choose, unless you cancel.
Don't use Carl to spam or abuse pro shops. Carl calls courses on your behalf. Treating that channel responsibly is part of using the service.
Cancellations and refunds
Tee time cancellation policies vary by course. Carl will tell you the course's policy before you confirm a booking. Refunds for cancellable tee times are handled by the course directly.
You can cancel your Carl subscription at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future renewal charges; it does not change a golf course's separate tee-time cancellation or refund policy.
Beta disclaimer
Carl is provided as-is during the private beta. The service may be unavailable or miss courses you're looking for. We make no guarantees about uptime or result completeness during beta.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll text you before they take effect. Continuing to use Carl after that means you accept the updated terms.
