How to Book a Tee Time as a Single Golfer in Boston

Carl's take

As a single, search for one space inside an existing group. Some courses let you reserve that online; others need a call. Arriving alone doesn't guarantee a place on a busy sheet.

Search for one place in a group

George Wright and Devine let a single join an existing twosome or threesome online. Fresh Pond publishes the same rule. Look for a suitable group with one space; a standalone empty time is not necessarily available to a solo player.

Call where a call is useful

If the published sheet cannot answer a pairing question, contact the course. Ask whether there is an eligible group you can join and what reservation method to use. Do not assume arriving early guarantees a start or that the shop has hidden inventory.

Keep the time window honest

Give yourself room for check-in and the round, but do not promise you can accept any start if you have a fixed finish. A nine-hole opening can be a better fit than a late 18. Your playing partners may use a different pace or game format; agree on it at the first tee.

A single still has a cancellation deadline

Boston city reservations need four hours of notice. Fresh Pond and other courses have their own terms. Read the selected booking policy and cancel through an accepted channel. Calling after the deadline does not automatically waive the fee.
