Providence or the island?

Triggs is a Providence option for a Donald Ross municipal round. Green Valley, Montaup and Newport National put you in the Portsmouth–Middletown area. Pick that destination first, then fit the golf and return trip around it. A lower fee does not automatically justify another drive.

Triggs

The 2026 walking fees for 18 are $55 weekday and $65 weekend; nine holes is $32 or $35. Carts add $22 for 18 or $12 for nine. The after-5pm twilight offer is $24 walking or $34 riding, first-come, first-served.

Ordinary reservations open seven days ahead, with no single-player bookings. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead. Some pass categories have a shorter three-day window.

Green Valley

The posted 18-hole walking fee is $52 weekday or $62 on weekends and holidays, falling to $42 after 3pm every day. Carts add $28 for 18 or $14 for nine, per person.

Use Green Valley’s current direct booking link. The Portsmouth course is open to the public and does not rent clubs; bring a set for every player.

Newport National

The Orchard Course’s May 21–September 26, 2026 fees are $210 Monday–Wednesday and $235 Thursday–Sunday and holidays, with a cart. September 27–November 28 fees are $160 and $185. The separate Vineyard nine has its own rate card.

The published online window is seven days and cancellations need 72 hours of notice. Check-in is at 425 Mitchell’s Lane. Children under 12 and non-playing ride-along guests are not allowed on the course.

Montaup

The in-season public 18-hole green fee is $80. The posted cart price is $50 for the cart, or $30 for one rider; confirm the per-player total for your group. An approximate $105 riding quote assumes two players splitting the $50 cart.

Public tee times are booked online or in person; the operator says telephone reservations are not accepted. Review current public-play times and dress requirements before reserving.

Newport National is a different budget

The old approximate $150–175 peak quote understated Newport National’s 2026 Orchard card. The current peak is $210–235; the autumn card is $160–185. It also requires 72 hours for cancellations and limits online booking to seven days. Treat those terms as part of the purchase.
