Brookmeadow charges a flat weekend rate whether you play nine holes or 18. It also prices every tee time dynamically, requires full prepayment when you book, and will not sell you nine holes before 11am on a weekday. That is a lot of rules for a family-owned public course in Canton. The payoff is a 6,637-yard Sam Mitchell layout 30 minutes from Boston with a 4.3 Google rating across 312 reviews. What Brookmeadow is
Brookmeadow Country Club is at 100 Everendon Road in Canton, off Route 138 and about 18 miles from downtown Boston. The Simoni family has owned it since 1966, when Sam Mitchell laid it out with founder Frank Simoni. GolfPass lists 1968 as the opening year. It plays par 72 at 6,637 yards from the gold tees to a 71.7 rating and a slope of 123. The whites are 6,276 yards at 70.1 and 118. Bent grass tee to green. The current scorecard on the course site shows the blues at 6,566, so the yardage has been trimmed a little from the listing.
It is a flat course on the banks of the Neponset River, and that cuts both ways. Easy to walk. Slow to drain. A GolfPass reviewer who played it several times put it plainly: great when dry, on a river that overflows often. Push carts are $9 for 18 and walking is allowed any day, which is rarer than it should be this close to the city.
How it plays
The front nine is the tighter side. The course's own hole descriptions call the first a demanding opener with bunkers on both sides, the second a 415-yard par 4 that needs a shaped tee shot through trees, and the eighth a 486-yard par 5 that is reachable in two but guarded by a waste area and a pot bunker. Holes 3 through 6 run short par 4, par 3, short par 4, par 3, and a 2018 GolfPass review said that stretch backs up play on busy mornings because groups stack on the tees.
The back nine opens up. The 13th runs along the Neponset with a drop-off behind the green. The 16th is a 538-yard par 5 the club calls the tightest hole on the property. The 18th is a 435-yard par 4 finish with trees, penalty areas, and heavy bunkering around the green. The one-line summary from a reviewer who brought his 15-year old: fun, very scoreable, very good condition, a few greens marked up.
2026 rates
Brookmeadow uses an adjustable pricing model. Rates move in real time with demand, time of day, season, and availability, so there is no fixed card. The course publishes a range instead. Here it is:

Seniors and juniors get 15 percent off weekday 18-hole rates only. The live sheet backs up the range. On a September Saturday the booking page showed $94 at 3:42pm, $69 at 4:09pm, $45 at 4:36pm, and $30 at 5:03pm. The price drops in steps every 30 minutes through the afternoon.
The rules that change the math
Three policies matter more than the rate range. First, all weekend rates are flat regardless of the number of holes. Nine on a Saturday morning costs the same $75 to $95 as 18, so play the full round or wait for twilight. Second, 18 holes are required before 11am on weekdays. The $40 nine-hole rate only exists from late morning on. Third, every tee time is prepaid in full at booking with a card on file, and the person who books is on the hook for the whole group. Cancel less than 24 hours out and the card gets charged for the no-shows. Do it twice and you can lose online booking privileges.
Rain checks follow the same hard line. If rain has started or is in the forecast before your round, no rain check, regardless of what the weather does after. Twilight rounds never get one. How booking works
Brookmeadow runs its tee sheet on Whoosh, a platform almost nobody else near Boston uses. The Reserve button on brookmeadowgolf.com opens app.whoosh.io. An older CPS Golf portal at brookmeadow.cps.golf still shows up in search results, so make sure you land on the Whoosh page. The public window is up to 14 days depending on season. The rest of the property is a nine-bay range at 250 yards, a 5,000-square-foot putting green, the Grille Room, and a practice facility the club calls the Perch. Weddings are a big part of the business, and a good share of the 312 Google reviews are about the ballroom rather than the golf.
Where it fits
Canton has two public options. Ponkapoag is next door at $27 for 18 and ranked among the worst courses in America. Brookmeadow is the other one. Against the rest of the South Shore, a $56 to $64 weekday walk is in the same band as the town-owned courses in Braintree and Hingham, and the $75 to $95 weekend rate is about half of a peak round at Granite Links.
