Finding a regular golf group in Boston takes more effort than in most cities. Public courses dominate the market here, which means fewer clubs running built-in social programs. But the infrastructure exists – you just have to know where to look.

Social leagues and casual groups run at Boston-area courses from May through August.
Organized leagues: the fastest way to get a regular game
BSSC (Boston Ski & Sports Club) runs the most accessible leagues in the area. Visit bssc.com/sports/golf for the full schedule. You don't need to bring a team – individual sign-up is available for all their golf offerings. Their Tuesday night virtual golf league at Five Iron Golf Government Centerruns 9 holes per week for 7 weeks on Trackman simulators, starting in May. Spots fill fast. BSSC also runs outdoor coed leagues at Boston-area courses through the summer. It's Boston's biggest adult social sports organization – they also run ski trips, running clubs, and social events, so you'll meet the same people across multiple activities.
Volo Sports (volosports.com/Boston/Golf) is Boston's most popular adult social sports provider. Golf leagues run 5 to 8 weeks in a casual format built around post-round socializing. All skill levels. Individual registration is standard.
Boston Golf & Social (bostongolfandsocial.com) has been running since 2018. They organize outings at regional clubs in various formats: individual stroke play, scrambles, and two-player team events. Check their website calendar for upcoming events – they're active through the season.
Women's leagues and singles organizations
The LPGA Amateurs Boston Chapter (chapters.lpgaamateurs.com/about-us/MABO) offers 30-plus weekend playing opportunities from April through October. Weekly 9-hole leagues run May through August. They also run a complimentary Mentor program for beginners – one of the better entry points for anyone new to the game who wants structured support.
The American Singles Golf Association Boston Chapterfocuses specifically on pairing individual golfers. Find them on Meetup.com. ASGA is a national organization with thousands of members and chapters in most major cities – the Boston chapter is active and posts rounds regularly. If finding playing partners for individual rounds is your main goal, also check the single golfer Boston guidefor platform-level options like GolfNow's Find a Game feature.
Apps and platforms for pairing
Spark Golforganizes casual social leagues and open rounds. You can join an existing group or post your own. It's built around the idea that not everyone wants a full season commitment – some rounds are one-off, some turn into regulars.
Deempleslets you find golf partners and join open rounds. You can see who's looking to play in your area and request to join, or post a round yourself and see who picks it up.
GolfNow's Play Single and Find a Gamefeatures let you flag yourself as a solo or browse tee times others have opened for pairing at participating courses. It's the most passive option – no relationship to build, just a slot to fill.
Course-based leagues and the informal route
Several public courses run their own weeknight leagues from May through August. Worth calling the pro shop directly to ask about availability:
- Sagamore Spring Golf Club (30 min north of Boston): afternoon leagues, individual join options
- Sandy Burr Country Club(Wayland): twilight leagues – call the pro shop at (508) 358-7211
- Juniper Hill Golf Course (Northborough): some weeknight league play on both layouts
Most public courses near Boston run informal twilight leagues that never get advertised online. The pro shop is the only way to find them.
For the most casual route: the r/golf subreddit has Boston-area players who regularly post looking for partners – search “Boston” in the sub. The Facebook group “Boston Golf” is an active local community. NextGenGolf runs social events aimed at golfers in their 20s and 30s.

The hardest part of joining a league or finding a group isn't the commitment. It's getting the first tee time right – playing a course that fits your game at a pace that actually works for you. A bad first outing with a group can kill the whole thing before it starts. Text Carl what you're looking for: a casual 9-hole group, a twilight league, a weekend scramble. Tell him your skill level. He finds the right slot and the right course for how you actually want to play.
