Scottsdale overseeding: check the course and the year

October availability needs a course-by-course check. Here are verified 2026 examples, the restrictions to ask about and the stale notices to avoid.

The date of the notice matters

Overseeding brings winter grass into the fall golf calendar. It can mean a closure followed by a period of cart restrictions. A polished course website can still contain last year’s maintenance sentence, so read the year as carefully as the reopening day.

Use the operator’s current notice as your source. A booking opening is useful evidence of online availability, but it does not tell you whether every practice facility is open or carts can leave the path.

We-Ko-Pa gives a useful 2026 example

The published 2026 schedule lists Cholla closed October 5–22, reopening October 23. Saguaro closes October 12–29 and reopens October 30. These are different windows at the same venue.

That page also contains a cart-restriction sentence dated 2025. Do not promote that sentence into a 2026 promise. Ask the club about current cart restrictions when your trip falls just after reopening.

Check more than the first tee

Talking Stick’s status page, checked October 6, lists O’odham reopening October 16 and cart-path-only play through November 5. It lists Piipaash open. The same notice covers a practice-area closure. Recheck the page before travel, because operational notices can change.

Longbow posts a tentative October 23 reopening. “Tentative” is part of the information, not a word to edit out. If that round is essential, confirm the date with the operator before buying travel around it.

Build a backup that is genuinely different

For an October trip, choose a backup course whose own notice fits your date. The other course at the same venue may share a practice closure, and a neighboring course may be overseeding too.

Keep a copy of the booking terms and notice you used. Ask about course routing, range access, cart restrictions and the cancellation deadline. Those four details explain far more about the day than a generic “great fall conditions” claim.
